A taste of what is offered in this Introductory Lesson:
The study of mental and behavioral processes is known as psychology. Those who work in the discipline of psychology essentially strive to answer the question, "What makes you tick?" as well as "How do you see the world?" These seemingly simple concepts cover a wide range of complex topics, including emotions, thinking processes, dreams, memories, perception, personality, sickness, and treatment.
While the foundations of psychology may be traced back to Greek philosophers, it wasn't until 1879, when German psychologist Wilhelm Wundt established the first laboratory entirely dedicated to the study of psychology, that the science really took off. Since then, psychology has grown tremendously into a really broad science, frequently merging with other fields of study such as medicine, genetics, sociology, anthropology, linguistics, biology, and even subjects such as sports, history, and love.
So put on your thinking cap, get comfortable (maybe on a couch), and prepare to be enlightened; it's time to begin learning about yourself in ways you never realized were possible. Let's get started, whether this is a refresher course or you're learning everything for the first time. Hello and welcome to Psych 101.
